Congratulations to USAction President William McNary

Tonight, USAction President William McNary will be honored at the Annual Midwest Academy’s Award Ceremony in Washington, D.C. The Midwest Academy is a leading national training institute for the progressive movement and social change.
The Academy will be presenting McNary with the 2009 Progressive Leadership Award, commending his far-ranging achievements fighting for human, social, civil, and labor rights. We are not only proud of the fact that McNary serves as USAction president, but also is the co-director of our state affiliate Citizen Action/Illinois.
In an official statement on the USAction website, McNary states,
“If power is finite and too few people have it, our common goal should be to secure just relationships of power in our workplaces, in our communities, in our nation and in the world. We are not merely justice seekers, though our work must be grounded in truth and justice. We are not merely policy analysts, though our work must be based on sound public policy. We are not merely freedom-lovers, although we all love freedom. We must organize to change the balance of power in this country and give more power to the people.”
USAction congratulates William on this well-deserved honor. We are grateful for his inspirational leadership and unwavering commitment to social justice and progressive change, and hope that others will follow his steadfast example.

Congratulations! The Midwest Academy does great work and this is such an honor!
